Here's the low down. My friend's got a '97 Mustang Convertible. Popped his hood and found out he's got the stock 3.8 Liter 150hp (I believe) V6 engine with an auto transmission. Everything is bone stock except for aftermarket dual exhaust. I highly doubt it's true dual though. I kinda shot my mouth off a little and now he really wants to race. I know I should be able to whoop his ***, but i don't realy want to race. I promised myself I would knock that **** off after 100K but I really don't want to look like a, how should I put this, wimp. It's decision time guys. Never mind my car isn't running all that good, but the power is still there when I need it if i race under the right conditions. Advice?
You should be able to whoop him!!
I think all late model Stangs(non GT or Cobra) are 193hp though...but the auto trans will give you the advantage. I'm pretty sure the duals on his Mustang are "true" though, but the only Mustang duals worth looking at are on the GT's and Cobras which have the bigger diameter and sound SWEEET! but you'll whoop him easy!

DA MAX- Your thinking of the 99+ Stangs.
Those Stangs with that 3.8L 150hp engines are DOGS. Let him throw on a supercharger...then it will be a race.
Dont worry about the high miles. You shouldnt even need to hit the redline to take out this one. I race my when I can, its almost got 142,000mi. Its a Nissan engine! They last forver.

WOOAHH!!!! Really....
only 150hp!!! Damn, thats a blower for them and an insult to the Mustang name if you ask me!
aren't they heavier than a Max as well!? damn they just lose the battle entirely!

Well what I meant by true dual is that V6 Mustangs only come with one way for the exhaust to leave the vehicle. It's probably a split-in-two exauhst pipe. Thanks for the confidence booster guys, not that I don't have faith in my Maxima anyway. I know I can stomp him, but I just have my doubts sometimes. I've raced plenty of these V6er's and whooped 'em every time, but they were all spur of the moment. This one's going to be set up.
