Hmmm.... I had a friend who did it to his Grand Am. He kept having sealing problems up by the glass.

Though one thing did catch my eye, one of the smallest things there.
Product is covered
by warranty for as long as you own your vehicle.

you dont drive around with it open any more than you would with a normal opening trunk

The flip-flop trunk thing was pretty popular a couple years ago. I think Chris91se did it to his car, probably pics on his cardomain page

they want $20? Hah... you can do the exact same thing with some little metal hinges from Home Depot and a little creative ingenuity... We did a mod like that on a Mirage for less than $5 and about a half an hour's work.

The trunk dosent have to stay like that when its opened. It opens normally then you pull the front down level. Its only hinges

It is a purly for show mods like that do draw alot of attention but are not practical for every day use. All you have to do is get 2 small hindges remove the top 2 bolts and screw in the hindgesit take a little bit of mesuring but still a easy mod. Than when you want to show it off you remove the bottom 2 bolts and you now have a flip flop trunk only hard part is bending the hindge at the right spot. Like this...

And here is what it looks like ona third gen max

I agree but at show it does get you points and if you plan on showing your car like Chris91SE than yeah i say do it but if you have no intention of doing shows and stuff than I'd say don't bother.

I did a show last summer and as you can see my car if FAR from done but i got a lot of recognition for that MOD i didn't place but got a lot of compliments

AS far as the origanal question as long as you leave the bottom bolts it will only "FLOP" down when you take them out

that's my point... this type of trunk really doesn't let u keep the trunk "a little opened" for carrying the occassional piece of lumber or whatever. a normal trunk u can tie down a bit and salvage some visibility...but with this mod it's really a matter of all or nothing.

like i said...when the trunk isn't "flip-flopped" it functions as a normal trunklid. if you need to tie it down for whatever reason you can. with this mod you lose no functionality of the trunk lid

but it is functional as a regular trunk like the others in this thread have said it is.

study the picture and then think about how it works. Nothing can be in the way of the trunk (bottom edge under the reflector) in order for it to flip down. If you have something sticking out of the trunk a little and tie the trunk down you will sit the trunk (again lower edge below reflector) on that piece sticking out. If that is the case then there is no way to flip the trunk.

It is just a hinge on the trunk mounts and it opens and closes normally but when fully open you just flip it back. Some have used pins in them that will not allow it to flip if you dont want it to.

as i mentioed in earlier post just leave in the lower bolts when you don't want it to FLIP FLOP and then when you want to remove them to FLIP FLOP it. otherwise if you don't have something in place it will not sit right when you close the trunk and water can leak in when it rains since it wouldn't be seating in right. which is why you have to have something to lock it in place so that you can lock it in it's stock postion otherwise it is a pain in the azz to close the trunk without it being locked in place

the key if to do it with the trunk still on. you just remove the top 2 bolts than bend the small strap hindges with some carful mesurements screw down and there you go trunk is still aligned and if you bend the in the right spot trunk stays close to the bracket and you don't get too much rattle
