shifting points
in a relaxed drive I tend to not go above 2500rpm, and not usually much higher at all than 3000rpm if he situation calls for it.........unless the situtaion really calls for me to wake up the pure bred VE horses haha
hi m name is david and i am new to this forum. I own a 94 ve auto and previously owned a 90 silver vg 5spd. (sorry for jackin this thread, like I said I'm new and can't post new threads yet) My max lurches out of first gear very stiffly and I'm not really sure why, and I have already changed the tranny fluid a few months ago. However, if I drive really slow, and let the auto shift at about 2000 to 2500 rpm, the shift is much smoother. What's up with that? I've driven other 3rd gen autos that don't do that.
Shift at 2500 always (for normal driving of course...which may happen rarely, haha). Shifting at 2000 will bog your engine = not good. Shifting higher will waste fuel (not necessarily a bad thing, haha).
My normal shift area is 2800 RPM... this is where my exhaust hits it's sweetest tone, it begins to drown out around 3200 rpm. Of course, that's when the intake starts hitting it's sweet spot... so I sometimes let it ride onto red line.
I try to shift in between 2800 and 3500 rpm and thats when I get the jerky shift between 1st and 2nd. Plus, when the car is in comfort mode, the light does not come on any more. I'm not sure if thats just the light itself, or the tranny
i know ive got a 2ed gen but i shift at like 4k most of the time, my car must be really slow cuz 4k is not a lot of power.
i thought the least anyone would shift would be 3k
if you shift at 2000, your talking about auto?? i dont reall get whats going on here

Shifting below 2000 bogs your engine. Bogging is bad because it puts unnecessary wear on your engine as it tries to put the power into a gear too high (at least this is how I understand it). To get regular acceleration out of this, also, you find yourself using more gas pedal and getting worse gas milage.
I am talking about how high it revs before it shifts, if I go real slow it shifts around 3 but if I lean into it at all first gear shifts around 6k, I would like it to shift about 4-5k. Is there any way to adjust besides the power comfort switch, I have changed its settings but it still revs high.

Tried backing off
I tried backing off on the throttle at 4k today, all it wants to do it hang there, I guess I just have to accelerate slower (not easy) I am just wondering if there are any adjustments
I don't normally pay attention to the RPM's when I shift, I listen to the engine. So today I went out and did both, listened to the engine and watched the RPM's for when I normally shifted and its around 2900-3100 all the way through.

I used to shift at around 3000. Now the new Max shifts itself as it's an automatic.
shifting at 2000 rpm is for panzies who are worried about fuel economy.
