timing jittering?

Did a timing test last night and found out it's at 17 BTDC.
The pointed timing position is slightly oscillating but within about 1 degree, say 16.5-17.5.
Anyway it is not Dead stationary.
Is this normal or i should start look into it?
Thanks in advance.

One degree doesn't seem excessive, but I have no basis for that opinion. The variability is 'lash,' or play because the distributor is driven off the cam, which is driven by a 'rubber' timing belt. It would be interesting to check it periodically and see if it gets worse.
