Original CD BOSE Installation

Hi,

I just got an original CD player for my BOSE system. Does anybody know how to connect it? It comes with a black wire that connects to the BOSE stereo, but it has an additional jack, I think it is for power input. Is the plug hidden somewhere or do I need to add an additional connector?

Thanks.

In my car there is a BOSE stereo with tape player. I want to add the CD player that goes below it. It is a SONY CD player (this is OEM) it has a black connector that fits in the stereo, but it (the CD player) has a jack similar to the ones the stereo has. And there is no free plug to connect to it.
Some cars have the wires there (hidden) in case you install the stereo, just to avoid dealing with wiring.

from what i think i know, the sony won't work with a bose. there is a round connector on the back of your stereo, similiar to a S-video connector, that is for an external cd changer. bose tends to make their products different from everyone else, which is why i don't think the sony will work.

unless someone else will jump in and can correct me, you may want to consider a complete change out.

i was looking on e-bay today and there are several maxima bose units that are the double din size that have the tape and cd together. you would need a double din bezel for your dash and someone has one of those for sale.

Hey thanks a lot for that, what I really need to know is if the maxima did not come with the CD player, but with the BOSE tape stereo, does the car has the harness connector somewhere to add the OEM SONY CD player? OR do I have to get the harness connector also?

The CD player only has two things to connect the black connector that fits into the tape player, and a jack which I believe is for power input.

I took out the stereo and there is a 4 pin jack which is not connected, I presume there must be a connector that goes from this 4 pin jack to the 4 pin jack on the CD player. Now I just need to know how the pins are connected so I can solder them….

Pin Out

Hey, thanks a lot. I think it should plug into the middle jack, the one that has 4 pins. I have the pin out for the BOSE stereo:
____ ____
__| | _____ __| |__
| A B C || D E | | k L M |
| F G H || I J | | N O P |
|_____ ||_____| |________|

A= FRONT LEFT SPEAKER +
B= FRONT RIGHT SPEAKER +
C= BACK UP
D= LIGHTING SWITCH
E= ACC
F= FRONT LEFT SPEAKER -
G= FRONT RIGHT SPEAKER -
H= ANT. SIGNAL
I= ILUMI. CONTROL (RHEOSTAT)
J= GROUND
K= REAR AMP ON/OFF SIGNAL
L= REAR LEFT SPEAKER +
M= REAR RIGHT SPEAKER +
N= GROUND
O= REAR LEFT SPEAKER -
P= REAR RIGHT SPEAKER -

BUT I DON´T KNOW THE PINOUT FOR THE CD JACK
_____
| W X |__
| Y Z __|
|_____|

I THINK IT COULD BE:

W= ILUMI. CONTROL
X= LIGHTING SWITCH
Y= GROUND
Z= ACC

ANY SUGGESTION?

THE PIN OUT LOOKS OK ON THE EDITOR, ONCE POSTED IT GOES WRONG...

I've measured the resistance between the pins on both 4 pin jacks; this is what I’ve found:

D + E = CONTINUITY W + X = CONTINUITY
D + I = 12 OHM W + Y = 5,380 OHM
D + J = CONTINUITY W + Z = CONTINUITY
E + I = CAPACITANCE X + Y = CAPACITANCE
E + J = CONTINUITY X + Z = CONTINUITY
I + J = 8,720 OHM Y + Z = 6,300 OHM

So I still think that D connects to W, E connects to X, I connects to Y and J connects to Z.

Any input would be appreciated.
