Rear speaker deck

I thought I'd give fleecing a try. Wasn't too hard.

The componets are cheap, but temp till all major construction is done.
10" sub, sealed in a wedge box. 6.5 mids.

Sounds pretty good too.

Wow! Now that's impressive. What kind of sub/midranges are you using?

Thanks everyone!

There was enough room betwean the back seat and box to fit the amp. I have a kenwood amp that open for cooling when needed, so i leave the arm rest down.

I worked as a mechaninc for 3 months, almost got knocked out by the mean red headed supervisor so I left, lol. But I enjoy toying with cars so I learn alot off forums and online stuff(rest is just common sense.) Oh, and I bug a few .org memebers for their wisdom, I won't list em so they don't get even more bothered, I'll to get more pics of the install.

One thing that botheres me a little, the box being a wedge and sealed has GREAT responce, full and clean. Till it suddenly distorts if I turn it up too loud, at that point it's just not wise anyway. If I knew more about proper porting I would of.

porting it would require that box to be much bigger though. might be bit harder trying to hang a huge box under the rear deck.

ur amp looks like it's insulated between the back of the rear seat and the speaker box....doesn't it build up a dangerous amount of heat?

No, the arm rest was gutted out, so it gets direct air flow.

1.2 cubic ft.

A sealed 10 needs 1-1.5 cubic ft.

1 - 1.5 is a bit big for a ten. most 10s i've worked with requires .75 to 1.0 cu ft net. A large box wouldn't harm the sub, but reaching mechanical limit is rather easy (as you can tell when you have the volume up, and the sub starts to distort.)

possibly. the smaller air volume will act as a stiffer suspension on the cone of the sub. generally, a sub's power handling is inversely proportional to its box's volume. the larger the box, the less power a sub can handle. in a large box, the loose "spring" will enable the cone to reach mechanical limit sooner than compared to a smaller box. only tradeoff is that you'll lose a bit of lower bass reproduction, but nothing too drastic. but even in a small box, a sub can still distort when pushed.

Are those rear air vents just there to take up space? The defrog is thru the glass. Right or wrong.

Looks awesome, very clean in deed. I'm not sure if I would look into doing this to mine without tint since a lot more cars a getting broken into lately. About those vents I'm also intrested to know if they acualy blow air or not. I never really bothered to check..
