Why no option for 30+? I had to mark 26mpg...

Not really OT, but how does gas mileage usually compare VE vs. VG?

wow

thats a nice number for the max. i usually do around 20 to 23 on the highway, but i do need to change my spark plugs and maybe injectors. Im thinking of getting rid of the stock airbox and just putting a cold air intake.was joking with my mechanic friend worst case ill cut the hood and force feed it lol

Of course (in 92 atleast) a GXE 4-sp automatic had a final drive ratio of 3.642, whereas an SE 5-speed had an fdr of 3.823.

Weights are close to the same... 16 lbs diff or something... why the disparity in mileage?

I say 5 speed for 5speed the vg may get a little better due to making peak torque qicker.

I went ahead and marked under 20 mpg, because I do strictly city driving, and I do highway about once every other week. My best highway mileage has been 30 dead on with 92 octane.

On strictly city, I get ~17.5 on 89 Oct (midgrade in KS) and ~19 on 91 Oct (my usual choice for fuel).

I get really good mileage for what mods I have. It's probably more around 25 MPG than 26 though. In town isn't too bad either, I believe around 18-19 MPG when I'm driving nice and considerate of the other moronic drivers.

I run 91 octane though. 85 is too cheap, and burns quickly, and all the 89 around here is 10% ethanol blend, which I found out the expensive way that it eats my injectors.

What the hell are you people talking aboutr??? I just chaged my VTC's with the knock sensor and oxigent sensor, and I still get arond 13.7 mpg. I have to admit that I mostly drive with my car cold, to work & back (about a mile), and then about another 2 miles away on the highway (50 to 70 mph). I get around 30 miles a day on this car. I have to admit, my trunk is full with tool boxes and such, plus I never warm my car up, I heard that driving it gently warms it up quicker, which makes less damage. The book says 19 to 21 mpg, but still, 13.7 is a rip off. My DSM (Eagle Talon, both '91 with around 280 hp, and an '90 with around 300 - 320 hp at the wheels got at least 20 mpg). I do have a heavy right foot, but 13.7 mpg, even in mybook is f**ked up!
PS his car also handles like crap, and I do know how to drive, and my shucks are in good condition, I just changed my rear tires, going to change the front ones as well. Any other sugestions? For exempal, my '88 Prelude takes turns at about 10 to 25 miles per hour faster.
Still love my Maxima. though, Val!!!

nice spread developping

yeah guys i see a nice spread forming up here, but i have to agree with SouthStar, i noticed that if i fill it up completly the first quarter goes by fast then it gets better, but i dont think its leaking , checked it last night when full and the tank is good. mysterious. oh and another thing i belive my gauge is possesed, sometimes it moves sometime it doesnt.maybe its the pressure in the tank that is going nuts.

P.S thanks to all for your participation, dont be shy and comment. As i said before i didnt put the option for 26 and above, cause i really didnt think i was gonna see anyone doing over 26.

25 mph hwy - drive 70 miles one way doing mostly 75 + mph. I wonder what I'd get w/a tune-up, injectors, cone air filter, & driving @ the speed limit or less.

full tank = approx. 375 mile

Not quite OT, but am I the only one whose gas light comes on after about 12 gallons? According to my calculations, that means I have 6 gallons left. At a conservative 25mpg, that means I still have 150 miles left. I always assumed my gas gauge read a little low, especially since that first quarter of a tank goes by so quickly... but you guys say you get less than 400 miles to a tank... to me 18gals x 25mpg = 450 miles. and we've established that alot of us get more than 25mpg

Ive often wondered how far I could go with the gas light on.... but I thought the tanks were 15 or 16 gal?

15 gal x 25 mpg = 375
16 gal x 25 mpg = 400

hrmm..... did someone say the owners manual states 19 - 21mph???
If i had the 92 owners manual I'd look it up - but if the tank is 18 gal...maybe I can go a lot farther than I thought with the gas light on

maybe i'll take a 5 gal can w/me some day & run the bugger out & really see how far it can go.

I'm going to clean all the crap out of my trunk... (it's february, really, why are my golf clubs still in my trunk?) Do a little tuning, change some fluids, lube up some moving parts, fill up a 5 gallon gas can and see about breaking 600 miles on one tank. That's 33.33mpg. Who's up for a little competition?
