Get the VE5 you want... We know you want one... With the shape your car's in now, you could keep it for parts. It's got a decent engine, right? Go find a nice VE5 and you're golden.

i got my VE5 for $1100. Of course it had 224k at the time (6 months ago, I'm at 235k now...). It had a broken belt in one of the drive tires so it pulled to the right, it was kinda sluggish, stalled every now and then, and the paint's not great. But I love her! And you can't have her.

It's not that the paint has swirls or is hazy... it's the fact that there's chunks of it missing. I counted 40 little stone chips on the hood alone, I haven't bothered counting the nicks on the fenders around the wheel wells.

24" of snow today in New Haven, CT and my old max ran much better than my mother's 03 Altima (I drove it today since my sunbird clutch went completely out a few weeks ago). That max wnt through banks of snow and it wouldn't even slip. That altima hit about 3" of snow and the tires lost all traction (and they're brand new tires). My bird can go through snow good to but that's because it has like 12" of clearance at the bottom lol.

Edit: Just found out my college cancelled classes until noon today and I am soo happy because I have classes from 8-11 Monday-Friday.

Mine turned off in the snow but I'm guessin its cuz I was doing 40+ on an unplowed road with no cars and I didnt have my "splash" guard in my wheel well and under alternator so it would squeel and turned off a bit...this was before new years eve, it doesnt do it anymore but still squeels cuz I need the guard that goes below the alternator..already got the wheel well but 1 is not enough

Heard it was like 26in. in Central Park. I would also advise not to drive until the snow is completely gone because the salt they throw on the ground is not that good for cars. If you gotta do it, I'd rinse that crap off with some hot water.

When the northeast got that snowstorm the night on Dec 10, I was on my way home to Carlisle, PA... I made awesome time from Norfolk to DC and then as soon as I hit maryland it started to snow. By the time i got home it was 5 in the morning and there was more than a foot on the ground. It seriously took me 3 and a half hours to get from Frederick, MD to Carlisle, PA. That's usually an hour.

The max was an ox, no sliding, just barrelling through (at 20 miles an hour) Rte 15, making up lanes as I went. Don't underestimate the max's ability to handle rough stuff like that, just don't be stupid. Know both the car's limits and your own.

I think there are more minerals in the hot water which don't boil out.
I could however be totally off base though
