All aluminum radiator worth it?

I am not aware of a commercially available all aluminum radiator for Maximas. Many radiator shops could probably custom build you one for big $$$. Would it really be worth it for an older non show car?

My original radiator lasted 10 years and the replacement is going strong at 5 years. I bought it from radiator.com. It was cheap, has a lifetime warranty, and was on my doorstep the next day. No affiliation with the company other than a super satisfied customer.

Radiator.com also has upgrade models for some cars. You could always ask what they have.

Good luck, Colin.

Aluminum radiator efficiency

If its for efficiency, I really don't think you need it. The factory radiators are aluminum except for the plastic end tanks. I believe copper is a better conductor of heat than aluminum anyway. Most older Maximas came with a 2 core radiator, except I think in the far southern US. Radiator.com does carry 3 core radiators for Maximas, and they might even have thicker ones. Just ask them what their most efficient radiator for the Maxima is.

Having a new clean and thicker radiator will definitely increase its cooling efficiency. In addition, doublecheck that your electric radiator fans work at both speeds. I drive my Maxima in Dallas and Houston (where traffic can stand still for an hour and summer temperatures are regularly 100 dF) with a 5 year old 2 core radiator and the A/C at full blast. I have never had the temp gauge budge over "normal".

espimax needs more cooling than the average Maxima for what he's done to the car, but I know the Z32 guys use 3 gen maxima radiators for more cooling so ours are pretty beefy and I wouldn't think you'd need more cooling unless you're running more than about 500hp...

but if you really think you need it, look into some of the Z32 stuff by Koyo and etc..

More cooling

I see. Still, I don't think an all aluminum radiator will provide additional cooling unless it is physically bigger or had a higher core count.

Another option would be to use something like Water Wetter. Contrary to what the website says, it won't lower your coolant temperature unless your cooling system is already overstressed. A good cooling system will be temperature limited by the thermostat. But if the temperature is higher than the thermostat, Water Wetter as a surfactant will increase the cooling capacity of the transfer medium (water). It works especially good if you reduce or eliminate the use of coolant.
