Avg Joe - factory front suspension fading - Best Course of Action?

Hello, All. I have searched the forum and have run across lots of posts about high end struts and springs. I have a 99 Max with 85K miles. It is now bouncing abruptly over speed bumps and it is likely that something needs to be replaced in the suspension. I believe all parts currently in place are original.

Is there a standard suspension item that typically needs to be replaced at 85K miles? Is it likely just the struts or do I likely need to consider the springs or something else, too.

Also, do I just go down to some handy dandy shop and get mass market MacPherson parts or is there a better option relative to performance and value?

We are not high performance drivers. Just use the reliable max for commuting. Very fun to drive.

Thanks in advance.

for the Teins on the 4th Gen

for posting in the wrong forum

But I'll go ahead and highjack your thread to get it back on topic.

My buddy's 3rd gen needs a new suspension, his is shot. I think he should go with Koni/Eibach combo, he's not sure if he should go with all stock replacements. His main concern is the cost. Thoughts? Opinions?

stock springs are dealer/junkyard only.
KYBs don't seem to last long outside of stock height on our cars

Thanks, all. Let's make that Average Joe with bad eyesight. I will repost on the right forum. Will also investigate Konis.
