engine shields

So all of my plastic shields that protect the engine are broken off, its driving me nuts, and corroding stuff down there. I was wondering if anyone has had a custom shield made up from aluminum or stainless steel, something that can take abuse and isnt as weak as plastic! I was wondering how you did it, how much it costs, and what its made of?

it's not that plastic is weak, it's that the thickness of the plastic used was thinner than would have been best for long life.
the plastic also weighs less than the equivelant steel or aluminum piece.

well, I guess I am not knocking the plastic shield, but the plastic bolts that sheared off at the head. I really don't care what goes on there as long as my engine is covered up!!! I could probably use some scrap plastic unless someone has a better idea...
