Should I go with a bigger Rim?

I am using 16" maxxim rims with tires that i paid 300$ for all 4. Some guy blew his tranny his maxima and said just take em. retail for about 900$ I was thinking of getting more of a spoked stile like an evo rim but wasnt sure if i should get 17's or 18's. my car isnt dropped. any advice? (my rims in my signiture)

Stick w/ the 16s till you lower the car, then go with 17s or 18s.

sure if you want them. I never understand why people come on a board and ask if they should do something. If you want to do it then do it...you dont need our approval...now maybe if you wanted some suggestiong on styles of wheels that look good on the car etc. then thats a different matter but still the ultimate choice would be yours.

With that said if you live in pothole city then dont go bigger than 17s. If you want 17s or 18s the car will look better if you lower it but its not required...just might look a little funny with a big wheel gap (lucky its not a 4th gen) and 18s.

I like lowered cars with stock wheels and tires better than I like big wheels and tires on non lowered cars so if I could only do one at a time it would be lower it first and then get wheels when you can afford them.

just my .02.

no tire/wheel will lower the car.
it can change the look to appear lifted.
but the distance from top of the wheel arc to the center of the wheel remains constant.

oh i see, well you wouldnt get more than 300 for them i wouldnt think, but you could use that money and put it towards lowering your car and then save up for some 17s or 18s or 24s haha

I think Michael and Mizeree are on track. Well, do whatever you want, but IMO, lower the car before you put wheels on. I had 17s on mine before I lowered it and it looked like azz. Just go with some Eibachs and KYBs, then get into some bigger rims later on.

Just remember, the bigger they are, the more expensive (unless you score a great deal somewhere). You can get you current 16 inch tires considerably cheaper than 17s or 18s. Make sure your car has a good alignment so you don't wear out $500 worth of tires in 10k miles.

How is the ride w/Eibachs and KYBs compared to stock? I want to have a nice ride, but lower the car for a nice look too!

I have Eibachs and Tokicos, which I like, but KYBs are less expensive, IIRC.

I hear konis and eibachs are a good combo for ride comfort.....

I would get a 17" rim because its not good to go over two size the stock rim for transmission purposes. I have 17" SportMax rims with 225/45/17 Kumho Ecsta tires and they ride good and smooth with very good rain grip.

that really doesnt make any sense to me. I went three sizes over stock (18s) but with the wheel I chose it was lighter than the factory wheel. The tire size I got was the same diameter +/- very small amount. How is going up over two sizes going to hurt anything? Not flaming or anything just curious as to why it would...I honestly want to hear the reasoning behind this.

As long as the wheel and tire dont exceed the diameter of the stock wheel and tire, it doesnt matter how much rim or little tire there is.

my 18's actually decreased by 1/2 an inch, so i lowered it!!! lol j/k, nah

they are a heck of a lot lighter though, they did make it a very little bit more bumpy, but nothing bad

because these 3rd gens steer so well, its a great idea to throw in staggered wheels and understeer even more!!

I don't think white wheels would look good on a green maxima.

you know not trying to sell you on them but i haven't seen to many car colors that white rims don't look good on. IMO but a silver car i will say would look BAD!

if your talking about heresmymind i think his ride is black

i wouldn't mind a trade if i needed the money but all i am going to do is buy new 18" so it wouldn't help me. to be honest i just want to break even the only reason i put $500 is i figure who ever is truly interested will try to hagle the price down. so if i get what i paid $460 and than maybe nogotiate the shiping I'd do it. besides i'm not that worried about selling them if i do cool if not still loose nothing and have a brand new set of rims that would look good on my ride. to be honest when i bought them i had a image in my mind of how i wanted the car to look and since than changed my mind!

i like chrome too but since there very little on the car i don't think it flows right... IMO.

now you take a car with a chrome grill, bumpers etc. than yeah looks great. to me the rims shouldn't be the center piece of the display
