With the engine off, turn your key to "on" (not start) - this will allow you to play with the steering wheel without locking it. Turn it from side to side while standing outside of the car. Do you hear any clunking, clanking, banging, or otherwise mechanical noises?

You could have a problem with the steering knuckle, tie rod ends, or other parts of your steering system.

I just had to replace the bushings on the power steering rack (on the firewall) - this was the cause of sloppy steering.
*FYI - replacing these bushings is a PITA unless you remove the y-pipe. There's a total of 5 bolts on the two brackets, 4 you can get to, one is nearly impossible b/c of the y-pipe and cross member.

You need to keep a pair of control arms, tie rod end sets (both sides), bellows boot ready for purchase. I'm waiting for my in-family mechanic to get some free time to lend me a hand.

BTW..

How much are your rear strut carts? AND... how much are the rear strut mounts? (can't remember if I asked you...) AND... a pair of vented rotors for the front?
