clutch question. Wich one to go with choices inside

im buying a new clutch.
what would suit me best based on my mods

wsp y pipe, hks custom catback, test pipe, short ram intake, 8.5mm wires, ported t/b, will be adding a lightend flywheel or aftermarket one as well.

well since you have a VG I would stick with stock. Get the Exedy though since they seem to be a good qualit piece.

I dont know about the other brands you listed but like I said with a VG there is no need to go with a stage 3 or whatever. If you were to go turbo then I would obviously say get a better than stock clutch but since you arent stick with stock specs and get the exedy.

Why stuck on ebay though...look around at some of the vendors that sponsor the org and you will probably get it cheaper. I know Brian (internetautomart) was cheaper than ebay or anyone else on the Exedy Stage 1 when I was looking. He beat ebay by almost $100 at that if I remember correctly.

That's great but his point is that your motor doesn't make enough power to need a stage 3 clutch.

Did you read my post...why even ask questions if you arent going to read.

Your car doesnt make enough power to require anything other than a stock replacement.

That doesnt matter if you are racing or daily driving. You will not over power a stock replacement clutch.

Besides who knows how good or how well those knock off brands on ebay actually hold.

Stick with the exedy stock replacement you posted earlier or if you want more (although a waste of money for your car) get the Exedy stage 1.

the stock clutch is designed to handle 190hp easy
you've got a non-turbo VG which has only about 160hp
stick with a good quality stock replacement and drive happy.

160 HP VG motor
12 HP warpspeed pipe
5 HP intake
3 HP (guess) from ported TB
5 HP from cat-back

ricer math.

The WSP may well give 12 but the intake will likely hurt. A short ram intake is the same as saying he has a hot air intake since it pulls the hot engine air. That is likely hurting performance over the stock intake which at least brings in cold air...lets face it a short ram intake is just for sound and nothing else. At least say the intake is 0 improvement. Also exhaust has been pretty much proven to do nothing on the Maxima as far as performance goes.

I think Aaron showed some improvement with the ported TB but that was with a VE.

ricer math is just what you did. You add up what the company says you will gain for their product with all other products...it just doenst work that way. If it did there would be a lot of 500 hp cars out there.

He will be hard pressed to get much more than stock numbers out of it NA. you have to think that with the age and mileage it has now I am sure its not up to the 160 claimed crank HP it had new.

That first one is teh sux, put one just like it in an S13, terrible to drive on the street.
The second one looks like Acme brand cheese-o stuff.
Rest of them are ok.
just my 2 cents.

BTW: I don't recommend a centerforce stage 1, feels jsut like stock. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I had used it in other cars and been pleased, but just not the VG max.

Speaking of ricer math, there was some lame show on Speed channel last night where they were modding a n/a Cavalier. First they put on a SS body kit. And I quote "Now that we have made it looks fast...."

Then they bolt an exhaust upgrade (cat back) and a warm air intake. They claim that they made an additional 16 fwhp. They did dyno it, but never focused on the monitor so you could read it for yourself. Uber ghey. Claimed ~140 fwhp. More than enough to pull on a VG Maxima.

I think the best Maxima VG dyno I have seen was, IIRC, Matt Blehm's car at around 135fwhp. My car managed ~122fwhp. That is with an intake, WSP Y-Pipe, and advanced timing.

if you read you idiot i did not say i NEEDED a stage 3 clutch
nor do i want one, just threw the link up there, I know stage 3 is over kill and any 4 or 6 puck clutches are hard to drive on the street.

I know this. im not an idiot like you think.

Im sure there migt me a cavileer thats faster, but they are still ugly as hell.

My main question was hmm, stage 1, or stage 2, My cousin has a built gsr with a stage 2 clutch and a light weight flywheel and he's pushing around 180hp, and I love the way his clutch grips.

but im not a fan of my stock clutch, its not gripping near hard enough for me, and im sure a stage 1 or 2 would be much better, especially when i take it to the track.

that is the main reason im asking what you call stupid questions, just seeing what everyone has experiences with, see what will prob work best for my car to make sure I get something good. Better then just picking up the first thing i see and slapping it on, you get no where doing that!

When i need help i ask for it, even pro's ask for a little help and ask advice every now and then.

I would be willing to bet that you could not take a stock 2.4 ecotech Cavalier in the 1/4. A stage two will grip better, but the harder your shifts are, the more likely you are to mess up your transmission bearings and then we get another cute post. Some of your questions are legit and should be answered, but I assume that most people are burnt out with you. Asking questions is how you learn, but I assure you that most of the info you need is already out there.

Ghetto search= google.com/question,then add maxima.org forums on the end of your question....

IMO though,if you got all this $$ to spend on all this stuff then you have $20 to donate to this site and get the real search function....
