Somethings to consider

Partswise, you got your manual transmission, clutch, clutch slave cylinder, hydraulic line, master cylinder, pedal assembly (brake and clutch), shift linkage, ****, boot, throttle cable and that's just the basics.

One area I am not sure, but surely want to investigate is the wiring. Most manual transmission cars won't start unless the clutch is depressed. The clutch pedal assembly probably has this part mounted already, but I don't know how the other end wires into the engine control. Also, the cruise control. There should be a switch that cancels cruise when the clutch is depressed and that should be on the clutch assembly, but I am not sure how the other end is routed to the cruise control unit. (A simple fix is probably tap into the cruise cancel wiring built into the brake pedal).

we were gonna do this in our race nova, and it's just too much of a hassle. i think it would be cheaper and easier to just buy an SE. just my opinion though. but why go through all that to have a VG in a stick, unless there is a turbo in the future. . . .

Thats not entirely true.....

from the results I've seen a 5spd VG is not that far behind in 1/4th mile times than a VE auto if behind it at all. but if you can get the conversion done for the same price or less than a auto rebuild why not??

i mean get an SE in a 5spd. yeah, auto VE's aren't that great. one dude was thrilled he finally got under 16 seconds. my first time out with NO mods i ran a 15.4 and he's got all kinda stuff. I'm only runnin 15.2's right now, but i think when i put my new clutch in i'll be into the 14's. i dunno, VG's are hard to get into the 14's. I don't know of any off NOS or NA that are. please correct me if i'm wrong!
