painting of calipers
#1
hey just wondering what the difficulty is in painting my calipers...my cars pearl white and i want a nice color to go with it...any suggestions? the red would look nice but every car i see has red calipers...especially most of the rice rockets out there. and does anyone know where i can get the high heat paint to paint them with? i heard its close to $100 and not to sure...

There are several brands. A local parts store should have the cheap spray-can type (VHT, I think). Ok if you don't mind masking everything off, but you don't have to take the calipers off of the car. That type probably costs less than $10, but I don't know how it holds up.
I used the Folia Tec brand. Expensive, but I did them several years ago and it still looks great! It's a very thick, brush-on, epoxy based paint with a seperate hardener. I completely removed my calipers to thoroughly clean and re-build them, so I didn't have to mask anything.
I first used a wire wheel to get the undercoating and think gunk off of them, then I expended the better part of 2 cans of brake cleaner. The Folia Tec stuff comes with the colored base, epoxy hardener and a can of cleaner.
How well you clean them first will have the greatest bearing on how well and long any brand of paint will last.
