IACV/AAC Valve Cleaning

I just picked up a spare idle air control valve out of a 1994 that just hit 100K before it got rammed hard. It looks like a delicate item, so how should I go about cleaning it? Can I safely shoot TB cleaner into the port on its left side, and take a toothbrush to brush its throttle plate without damaging it? Thanks.
