speaker ques

I made some speaker adapters for my old max and the speakers I had then I trial fit those at that time and they fit
well I've still got the adapters and I want to use them with the ininity reperence 6012i that I just got out of the eclipse, but I don't know if they'll clear the window and regulator.
anyone know the depth from the metal to the regulator?
I'd like to find out before I take the door panels off

try it first. if it doesnt fit ad a spacer to the adapters you made. until they fit. they are a basic 6/5 so they should fit fine. trial by error. it wont break anything.

well with my MDF adapter i used on my 3rd gen, total height of the mount was 1". a 3/4" MDF ring was glued to a 1/4" inch plate. and my speakers didn't have any issues clearing anything.

how tall are your adapters?

When I put my new 6x9's in I pulled out the bracket in the trunk that holds the amp up to the rack. Gutted the amps out (blown amps) and mounted my 6x9's to the bottom of it. The bolts won't line up totally because of a plastic "tube" half way around each bolt, so I cut them off enough to get the speakers snug. So maybe this would be a good idea for you as well?

i did the same but it was a long time ago. i don't think i got all the screws back in but you should be able to get enough to hold it well. like i said, it was a while ago and ive had no problems

Oh, that's the "FUN" part. You have to remove the back seat. Then the third brake light and the bolts that hold them in are uner the carpet on the rear deck. There are also some green clips that you have to push down to get them to come out too, it's a difficult task to get to them, but once you can get them out it's about a 10 minute job

Yeah you could do that too.... dang, take the easy way out why don't ya. Kidding.

Your best bet would be to remove the nuts from the bottom, pull off the old speaker, and then snap off the "tubes" and then try to line them up and put the nuts back on. Your biggest fight then should just be trying to line the bolts up.

I don't think I can snap the tubes as the bolts are in them and can't come out (at least not from how I can see)

The tubes shouldn't go around the bolt completely. You will have to lay in the trunk to get a good angle and use a pair of pliers (as I did) or use a dremmel, which would be alot faster.

I have Infiniti reference 6x9s and they went in easily in the stock location mounted from inside the trunk. I didn't take anything apart or take anything out, except the stock paper Bose speakers.

well unfortunately mine don't
http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='REF9613I'&Ser=REF&Cat=MEL
that's what I've got.

note that the holes are round rather than oval like OE and most aftermarket. the plastic spacer on the tp of the speaker also soen't appear to have enough space to clear the plastic pieces either. I know that the car I pulled them out of didn't use the stock holes either
