just cause I'm bored

well tuesday I put in the front speakers in my custom made brackets, and the Alpine HU from my old max
wednesday I put in the rear speakers. had to break the plastic around the bolts to get the speakers in
then I put in the JVC H/U only to find out the faceplate didn't work completely
I took apart the faceplate to see if I could fix it, no luck found that the board had cracked
so I went to circuit city and picked up the identical unit to borrow it's faceplate.
later I called JVC (once I got my serial # off the unit) to see if it was under warranty still, turns out it was never registered so they authorized the repair for the faceplate, I should have the letter soon.
once my faceplate is fixed / replaced. I'll take the one I got at circuit city back.

then this morning I got ambitious and I adjusted my wiper arms so they don't hit the hood anymore
after that I raided my spare parts pile and pulled out my corner vents (this car had broken vanes) and swapped them. I also put on the lug nuts that were missing because the car had locks on the wheels when I bought it. finally earlier tonight I put the clock from my old car in and it's working.

That sounds like fun. Why bother with custom brackets for the front speakers though? The part that you put the speaker in is plastic, I just forced the screws in there manually and it turned out fine.

how bad was the PCB cracked? at least it was covered!! but if it weren't, some patience and decent solder skills and tools could get it functioning although swapping internals with the CC loaner would work too i just fixed the faceplate for the pos stereo that came with the black car. it was the volume buttons that were busted though. i just sacrificed a couple of the stereo preset buttons..

the board was cracked bad enough that it was flopping around once out of the faceplate housing.
I did thinl about just swapping the faceplate and returning the unit, but someone else would then end up with a bad faceplate. If I could have figured out how to have CC warranty it right off it would have been cool, but they wouldn't
but JVC is so m for them
