please take me seriously on this question..

i thought since my tranny is slipping REALLY badly, what will seafoam do in the tranny????? i mean it cleans out the motor VERY well, and i was wondering if it could do the same in the tranny.... i might test it when i get a new car......any input on this?

Uhhhh, no. They might make a tranmission treatment but that'll probly just make the problem worse if it is already slipping.

you're better off trying some auto-rx in the tranny. It helped get rid of my hard 1-2 shift when cold and overall it got a lot smoother. But if its on its way out.. then theres not much you can do.

honestly it's only <$10 a bottle so it can't hurt to try, but really I'd be prepared to fork over the money for a junkyard tranny or a rebuild

if i can sell the car whole, im gonna do that, if not, im parting it out...im getting another car, and really dont feel like putting another tranny in it,, it is the 6th one i put in so far.......plus the u-pull it junk yard rarely has VE's.. never saw a VE5 in there either

i tried some of that tranny honey (lucas) and it didnt do anything.... i only used one bottle, but no difference, one day the tranny only had 3rd gear and no 1st or second or Overdrive, but it is back to the 1st and 2nd and no 3rd and overdrive, so the gears work, its just they arent kicking in......

the point of this thread was for me to see if it would mess up the tranny even more (to make it become undriveable) since it is flammable and is made for an engine, but it can be added to the engine oil......so im confused

just a thought, but what if the valve bodys were rebuilt/recalibrated w/e? It seems like its an intermitiant problem, and if it could be solved with just a vavle body job alot of 3rd genners could get away with a easy fix.

also van, look at wikings site to get an idea on how to clean the connectors related to the transmission.

honestly vanny you really need to take it easy on the transmition, i've had two maxima's in almost 3 years and have yet to ruin a transmition, you seem notorious for killing transmitions, lol

It's how he drives. These trannies don't hold up well under pressure.

No, its the autos on the VG's that go bad. 5spds could take the beating.

Mitsubishi 3000gt Same exact thing just different name. The stealth is manufactured by Mitsu

I got a Probe but it is manufactured by Mazda and every mechanical part is interchangeable.

I have to say, you seem to have no problem getting in there and doing decent sized jobs..let's see.

1-blew vg trans
2-went to junk yard and pulled ve trans
3-pulled vg trans
4-tried to install ve trans on vg (didn't fit)
5-pulled ve motor from trans donor
6-pulled vg motor from white car
7-installed ve motor but didn't finish
8-bought grey ve, swapped motor and trans??
9-blew that tranny after a couple months
10-pulled and cracked open busted trans with no intention of replacing it just to inspect?

wow dude, where are you keeping all these junked up and torn apart maximas? you make me feel like a sucker for trying to avoid swapping engines and trannies between my 2 cars. do you have access to a shop? you seem to not mind pulling trannies and engines left and right. although you said you're going to part it out, but you could probably sell that beast for more than you paid for it which would be easier than having it sitting around always picking parts off of it when you make a sale. whatever happened to the white one anyway?

i've heard that one before...then when u go back in for the warranty replacement they hit u with "customer abuse" and deny your claim. don't be a fool vans - u're not getting a 4 year warranty on a 13 year old car.

so which shiester car lot are u buying this from?

yup, thats what i did to the car, i still have thw hite one in the back yard, and my parents are yelling at me because it looks like a junk yard....... i do NOT have acces to a lift of a shop.... it is all done outside in the cold weather.....i was out there while it was snowing for half the time!

Dawifey: i am getting it from cross keys auto.....my mom works with the owners girlfriend and he is just starting out and wants a good reputation, so he is pretty good at deals......

VEvolution........the VR-4 is the 3000GT.... the R/T is the twin turbo... but they also had a non TT for the R/T

Yeah good point. I've heard of owners giving up on their VR-4's because they don't wanna pay/can't find many good places to keep all that technology well maintaned.
