Experts-Difference between VE and VG alternator?
Experts-Difference between VE and VG alternator?
I need to know the difference between the VE and VG alternators. I'd like to put a Maxima alternator in my 300zx and the common swap is a VG maxima alternator and it bolts right up after a little shaving off the bracket.
So has anyone seen these next to each other, are there different mounting points or a different plug or anything like that? How about output? I know the VG makes 90 amps, I'm assuming the VE does the same. The Z is only 70 amps
Any help is appreciated, the Z is on jackstands getting a new suspension but I had it running last night and I miss the old turbo VG.

going by autozone's alternators listed they are different and the VE alternator puts out 95 amps. not sure how different the bracket setup is though. the price difference for the extra 5 amps isn't worth it though (at least from autozone).
The reason I ask is because I already have a VE alternator that I've been trying to sell. I might as well just save it for my Z when I get around to it if it will work, especially since it's 95 amps and not 90.
Does anyone know if it will be okay to just switch out the connector if it's different?
