Oh man every single time, especially when it is dark out! I love it though! Now if only I had more headroom. Anyone else have problems with headroom?

I think the seeming difficulty in finding the door handle at night perfectly accents my favorite maxima feature; the auto seatbelts. After searching, getting annoyed, and finally finding the handle, you're almost assured a laugh when the belt literally smacks them upside the head as they get out of the car in a huff. After seeing it hapen over and over, I'm begining to doubt the set-up is coincidental.

Happens to me too. They grope for the handle on the side. They seem to instinctively find it after a little while though. IMO it makes the door panel look cleaner.

Someone around here has a write up on "how to " install an led in the door handel well. If I remember correctly it lit it up quite well. Not that it would be hard, just drill, splice and push. Hummmmm I just might have use for thoes LED's after all.....

lol... this thread is so funny. my Dad gets so pissed everytime he tries
to get out because he cant find the lever, then he blames it on a "ricer"
and when he finally finds it,the damn seltbelt knocks him in the head
and I get a few more choice words.lmao damn I love my ride. My selt
belt has strangled several people because they always have to move
to find lever for door.. This sh*t is priceless

When I bought my car I was checking stuff out and, back then the key didn't work in the trunk, the guy I bought it from had to show me where the button was. I looked around for maybe 20 minutes thinking maybe it had been next to the gas latch and broken off or something and if that was the case, there should still be a cable around or something.

As for the door, it got me the first time. And all my passengers have problems with it. But i think it's cool. Not that they can't find it, just where nissan put it. The trunk button too. Cause I can reach in my window and hit it without opening the door.

Still not as bad as my miata. The trunk and the fuel latches are inside the center armrest console. It's nice because you can lock the console and people can't pop your trunk if you leave the top down, but it confused the heck out of me for the first few days.

A write up on how to light the handle? I'd rather one on how to increase the speed of seatbelt retraction-
where is Wiking when you need him

try going from getting out of a yukon to getting out of the max
on the yukon I had to reach down below the armrest for the door handlethen on the max you have to reach inside the armrest.

hahahaa SO effing true! it's awesome, i love it. EVERY time someone else gets in my car...no matter how many times theyve been in, it takes them a minute to find the handle, and they always comment on it....i have this short friend (she's 4'11'') and when the seatbelt comes back after closing the door, she gets smacked in the mouth by it, and then it almost chokes her....kinda funny, but also so sad to see that my max wants to destroy something so beautiful (the girl)

i love our handle and trunk button placement....and also, my letters on my sunroof controls are worn off, and people always say "man, i think i broke your sunroof" because they hit the close to raise the back, instead of open....

and when you close it, and it stops when its almost there, whats teh reasoning behind that anyways? (the sunroof)

That's so true without a doubt. Every time I have new people in my car they're always groping for the handle high up on the door and when they eventually find it and try to get out they see the seatbelt coming at them...and usually end up so tangled in the seatbelt they have to unhook it to leave. I really like the handle where it is though, my first car ('89 Celica GT) had it in the same spot and it just felt like a natural location for it.

This is great, I have definitely found my home here (this is my third Maxima!)

The part I love about my maxima, my friends can't roll down the back windows to smoke (their permanently in place so they don't slowly role down) and they can't open the doors either

I would not trade my car in for the world. If only my girlfriend would learn to accept this.

The door handles are cool, I like them. I myself never had trouble opening the door since day one, but other people that got in the car didnt know how to open it. I actually had to explain it countless times
