I was just thinking about how the VE 5spd can pretty much run low 15's high 14's (14.8-15.2) with minimal mods(intake), but yet the identically modded VE auto is in the mid-low 16's(16.2-16.4 from what I've seen), but yet the VG autos and 5spds differ by only a few tenths of a second (mostly 16.5(5spd)-16.8(auto) from what I've seen)....why is there such a big difference in the VE auto and 5spd times and not the VG trannys?? is it that the VTC is more "reactive" in the VE 5spd than the auto? is there a difference in the proficiency of the transmissions?? or am I just crazy and need to sleep?? just some late night thoughts.....

VE is not a torque monster so + an auto = bad
VE autos do not have the power valve in the intake that the 5-sps have.
VE autos have only 4 gears and the 5-sp have five

What did you use to get your Bose hooked up with your Sony equip?
Sound good? I'm asking becasue I've used a Bose interface for after market/non-Bose units, but didn't get particularly stunnig sound quality. Did you have to make any special mods besides perhaps an interface?

Regards.

VE auto's = suck

I can't stand this transmission, it is so unbelievably slow to shift, when I gun it even slightly it takes forever.... Only difference I can make out is that VE automatic trannies are pieces of ****, or at least mine is

Re: Hey Bryan

I used the FM modulator and kind of cheated. I don't have real CD quality, but am still happy. See my website for pictures and my writeup.

So what I'm wondering is....is the ve auto really 190hp? How can one engine have the dual intake thingy and the other not and still be rated the same?

Good question. Here is my theory. I have looked at the auto and 5-sp intake manifolds. They look the same except for the power valve and flapper that seperates the manifold in two(sorta) So the auto has the same capacity as the 5-sp one but doesn't benefit on the low end from the flapper is closed(smaller intake area = better velocity). So the auto is "always open". So I guess on a dyno, ultimate hp should be the same(but auto will suck more hp than a 5-sp) But Nissan only shows engine hp not at the wheel hp. I bet the hp and torque curves are a little different though. I would guess the ve 5-sp might have more area under the hp and torque curves.

Liked your homepage alot. Especially as we have identical Super Black 91 SE's. Though, believe it or not, I still only have 98,000mi on mine. (Automagic, Black leather, Bose spkrs w/interface for Kenwood head unit, Hayden 403 Tranny cooler, stright pipe, Sylvania cool blues in the head and fog ...) But I DON'T have Altezzas or BMW headlights. Everybody say "awww". (Sometimes you have to draw the line kids)
Even when I think of changing rims, I can't help but look at the originals and think that, ultimately, the guys who designed the SE knew what they were doing. I like SE rims better than anything I have compared it to. Not to mention, I just saved a fortune not replacing them.
Lastly, and equally impressive though, is that my middle name is Bryan, also with the "Y".
Better add me to the buddy list.
