Maxima and itss overall integrity

Hey guys its been awhile since I've posted in here. Been hanging out in the regional forums but I just thought let people know that because of my max I escaped death(not for the 1st time). I was driving a few weeks ago at night in the snow at a desirably slow speed for the conditions too. But I came up on a small turn when I spun out into a light pole going roughly 3-35mph I hit the pole headon and not a single part of my car was damaged. I got out and was simply amazed that nothing was damaged engine or bodywise. I have no doubt that if I had been in new car made of this new lightweight plastic crap I woulda been fairly ****ed up.....Just a small round of applause to the Nissan engineers for probably saving my life if not just keeping me from injury. I hit the snow/light pole hard enough to have a totally recognizable nissan logo on the front....I tried to keep it but it melted lol.

edit: after posting thread I realized that I misspelled "its".......

Good deal!

Funny thing is, I was stopped at a light behind a car the other day and was letting myself move up without looking at how close the car was in front of me and I bumped him (not tooooo bad), but we both took a look at it and nothing was wrong. Maxima body FTW

3.5 or 3-5 mph -- there is no way he hit the pole @ 35 mph and didn't have any dmg - especially head on

Yeah, a friend of mine rear ended another car with my old 93'GXE while going around 100mph, and the other car was going maybe about 60-70mph.. It really sucked, but neither of us got injured and the driver of the other car kept driving as if nothing happened Probably escaped from prison a few minutes before. The damages for my Max weren't all that bad actually, and I could continue to drive for a few more days after the incident till she overheated do to the radiator being pushed up against that tough VG Damages included bent hood, left fender, bumper, radiator, and lights. Funny thing is the lights still worked just didn't point in the right direction anymore.

If I remember correctly, I read somewhere we actually didn't get such excellent crash ratings back in the day. Just average 3/5 or something.

No joke 30-35 coming out of the 360 and trying to "brake" I hit the pole hard enough to snap it in half and in the end cause the actual light to fall on my windshield

Hrmmm... I used to think some people were jerks to get on newbies, but if you would have read the user agreement...says you can't start a new thread until you post a certain # of times - soooo find some thread that interests you and post in there - will get you much farther with the .org members

good luck!

Like all good noobies should do, READ THE FAQ's. You won't be able to make a new thread until you make 15 good posts. And NO, spam does not count as a valid post.

Not too bad...although other members here have picked up their cars for mere hundreds...Unfortunately I'm not one of them. Good mileage too.

FYI, you probably need a timing belt change right away!

i seem to not be one of the fortunate few either, the car is in great shape aside from the 13 year old leather seats having a little sun damage and tearing

Make sure you get that timing belt changed if you can't trust when it was last replaced. No joke, it's not something to play around with.

Im not gonna lie, my skill with cars is rather minimal. Whats the price range for the belt and is it something me and my dad could probably do. His mechanic abilities are fairly good but i dont know how tough a task that might be

To me, 4k seems kinda pricey for it...

the belt is fairly cheap.
there is a guide in the stickies (top posts with the word "sticky" ) on how to do it
when you do the belt, also do the cam seals (2) and the front crank seal (1) not to mention the tensioner (for the timing belt)

I'm not joking and I do agree with the "worthless without pics". But I've been so busy with worrying about my car and other aspects of my life I don't I bothered with pics especial because it happened at 1am. Damn you Matt for jacking my thread!!111!!one!
The only damage done to my car was some snow that crushed into my grill but that melted away and as far I can tell hasn't affected my performance in anyway. But the bell for class is about to ring so I gotta go. I might have some pics so when I get home after class.

Good to see you're here posting without stitches or anything of that sort. As for timing belt guy, dont drive your car too rough or a lot until you change your belt as those 4k could go down the drain.

Thanks Colombian, your max looks amazing in your sig...... Well I checked and I only have pics from a week beforehand when I got backed into. SO it seems like its time to let this thread fade into away into the depths of our forums....

Edited: for grammar errors caused by my immense cough from having the flu or something.......
