Window Motors

Window Motors
OK, so from what I've read elsewhere on the Net Maxima's seem to have a thing with their window motors.
Well apart from the steering wheel shedding foam bits my passager side window sounds like it's about to give up the ghost. The window goes up and down fine but sometimes it's slow and sometimes I'm not sure it's going to make it.
Previously before I found maxima.org I had taken the '93 Max to a shop that replaced the motors for me on the back passanger window and drivers side window.
I've been inside the door before to replace the speakers. Is it pretty easy to identify and replace the motor as well? How much do those b*tches cost?

I have pulled the passanger side window regulator out and it was very easy. take the panel off roll the window down so you can get to the 2 bolt that hold the glass on the rail and then there are 4 bolts total that hold the regulator on just undo those (two on the top two on the bottom) and pull it out of the door. As for the price that would depend if you want new or used? You can get them from internetautomart her in the .org and help out a member. You might also just need to replace the regulator not the motor.
Hope this helped.

Well the motor is what attaches to the regulator and the regulator is the metal brace that the window goes up and down on. There are cheap ones and there are good ones just pick wisely. The one from Nissan is a better design then the stock from what I have heard, so paying the price for the better ones might be a better deal as you would not have to worry about it for some time.

I have a similar problem: the drivers window started to move very slow at the very top, then I heard some kinkd of cracking sound when moving wikndow up/down. Eventually I moved it up and stopped using it. the front pass. window was lowered manually (somebody broke into my car) and then it was slowly, but surely, falling down and finally felt right in. I'm getting the used regulators as a replacement. From the prevoius posts I saw that the some rubber part bake, wear and can cause a problem, too. So I intend to inspect them and replace, if required. Question: can I buy these rubbers at any auto store?

I don't think that you can just replace the plastic piece that it prone to go out but if you can great... I believe that the regulator is sold as a assembly, and the new ones are said to be better then the ones that came stock on our vehicles.

I would suggest not buying a used regulator unless you know for sure that the person had fairly recently bought it.
The biggest problem with regulators is with the pulleys inside. They are plastic and get brittle and break apart. I think they also just get worn out and break. The motors will get tired, too. You will know when one is slowing down.
When I replaced my front driver door regulator, I bought a new one with a new motor in it. It was a dramatic improvement over the old motor.
When I replaced my rear regulator, I just bought one without the motor and swapped the motor over.
Usually internetautomart's prices are good on 3rd gen parts. I did buy my first one (with the motor) on ebay for around $60 shipped, but that was a couple of years ago, they might be cheaper now.

Mine did the same thing. I replaced the window regulator using the same motor and they work great now. I did my f pass, and both rear doors. You can find the regulators dirt cheap on ebay all day long. I paid $30 each. Dealer wanted $120 each.
