Quest engine interference?

I heard 3.0 nissan quest engine is modified maxima engine and non-interference.
But when i called the nissan dealer service i was told it is interference as maxima.
WTF?!
Any one has any clues?
I am trying to help out a friend's 1995 quest for a TB job.
TIA.

I'm guessing the quest has the VG30 motor, which IS an interfearence motor, you time it wrong your gonna bend valves.

I've heard it's non-interference on many occasions.

Quests have a NONinterference engine. The reason the Maxima is is because there is less space between the piston and valves which gives you a higher compression ratio which equals more power.

why dont you just turn the engine manually after you are done? that will tell you for sure if it is not timed right. if after two crankshaft turns it is still turning go ahead and start it with no worries.
