Stuck Odometer/Tripometer

Wow, it's been a while since I've hit up the boards here.

I have a sticky odometer/tripometer (mileage doesn't always roll) which I recall is a common problem for our third gens. I've taken the dash apart already and I have the odometer sitting here in front of me.

Just wondering if anyone had any advise on the best way to clean the odometer, thus alleviating my sticky odometer problem.

I already took it upon myself to remove the electrical connection. Maybe I could just soak the odometer in soapy water and let it air dry?

Any advise would be welcome.
