replace head gaskets vs entire engine.

what would u do?????? if u had to pay to fix a head gasket problem would u pay the ridiculous labor cost of fixing it or just get another engine put it?

what is your idea of "ridiculous" cost?

I would probably go the JDM engine route, but it depends on the prices of what you are looking at doing.

for a VG... probably a new engine. If you really doubt your ability to replace the head gaskets yourself.

i just tore down a VE engine, and it took me about 4 hours just to tear it down all by hand, but i had no intention of rebuilding it, so i was throwing bilts in a bucket.. if you kept them in order, it would have taken longer... ohh and the motor was out of the car.. so it was alot easier.....i might do this to my 72k mile VE since the head gasket seems to be bad.. or i cracked the block...well see until i tear into it....

i got another engine with 120k on it for 350 bucks and it was a super clean car it came out of that got t boned. runs great. alot easier and cheaper just to swap it out if you know how to do it yourself. with headgaskets you may have to get into resurfacing the block and getting the heads redone.

I can get Vgs for 125, so when something goes wrong, I just toss another engine in.
