Gotta love the MAX!

Smoked a 97ish eclipse tonight, 4 times! It was nuts! He wanted another run every time and we pulled over to prove I did not have NOS or turbo! He wouldn't say which model eclipse it was, but he did have some nice mods on it. CAI, CAT Back, rubber and rims. But he just couldnt hang. The first and last time we hit 95 on the main street in town and he was two car lengths behind me, at least! Wish I had video or picture to prove it. Ohh well.
Thanks

I know...

It wasnt the low end model, my friend has one and he is slower than this one was. I wish that I knew what he had on it. I just like to laugh because I spent 5k on mine w/ my one mod and he spent 5k on his rims and tires alone and 9k on his car and it still can't hang.

It wasn't the GSX, if that's what you are thinking. I had a 98 GSX and the Max couldn't hang. 210 hp turbo AWD. It would have smoked you. You may have ran into the small 6.

Exactly. Those cars are unGodly fast to be that small. They will run all over most anything. I have even seem someone beat a Mustang GT with one of those things and the only mods were a CAI and exhaust. Those things don't play nicely and we shouldn't play with them at all.

The Eclipse didn't have a 6 available until 2000. He prob ran against a GS, it had maybe 160 at the flywheel. The RS had the same motor as the GS except no DOHC.

I didn't even pay attention to the year model he mentioned. I know that the 98 GSX had 210hp. It was a AWD turbo edition. The reason behind my knowledge is that I am a former owner. It was a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine with an intercooler and turbocharger which bumped it up to 210hp and 214 ft lbs torque. It weighed 3130 lbs. The base Eclipses during in this model period had the same 2.0 but only 140 hp and weighed 2800 lbs.

Here are a few specs for the GSX:
Engine Type: I-4t
0-60 mph: 7.0 seconds
Horse Power: 210 hp
1/4 Mile: 15.4 seconds
Top Speed: 139 mph
Braking from 60 mph: 123 ft.
Braking from 80 mph: 221 ft.
Skidpad: 0.86 g
Slalom: 63.6 mph
Fuel Mileage: 19.0 mpg

Whatever happened to the road rules of "I'll show you what's under the hood of my car if you beat me?" You beat him four times! Or is that just old school or some crap?

He was just mad that his sports car was getting beat by a "family car".

Don't disgrace the Max by calling it a family car, it is a 4 door sports car dammit.
