Engine Control Fuse keeps blowing...

Tonight when I was exiting off the freeway my max turned off. I tried to start, and kept cranking, but no start. I pulled the engine control fuse 10A and is was blown. Put in another fuse, and blew instantly. turned ignition fully off, then put in another fuse, and it blew when I turned key. Let the car cool down, and still keeps blowing fuses.
I evntually had the car towed home, and its 2am. What to do?? I need this car running by monday...Could it be 02 sensor wire?? Thats what im gonna check tomorrow morning, i mean later on today... I have no other idea?? Any specific ideas guys?? thnx..

My first 93 kept blowing that fuse when I washed my motor (right when I first got it). I think I got water in the alternator...not sure if thats what it was or not. Anyway it did that for a day and I got a resetable fuse from autozone and put it in there. I only had to reset it one more time and then the water or whatever dried up and it quit blowing the fuse.

DId you wash your motor or did you run in a big water puddle with no splash shields?

Just pulled the o2 sensor. The connector, both o2 sensor side and the side that goes to ecu or whatever is covered with all this nasty gunk from my leaking power steering pump. The wires seem to be ok, no rips at all. Could it be that the power steering fluid got into the harness connector and messed everything up?? That would suck because i would have to change the connector from the ecu side ....strip wires, etc...could i just clean the connectors?? with what?

And why is the 89 o2 sensor different from the 90?? No store around here has it in stock..

No puddles or water in engine bay mike...its bone dry around here...

89 has an extra connector spliced in.
you can use an 89 on a 90, but to go vice versa you'd need to splice into one of the wires with the existing single pin harness

mine kept blowing because of a busted input shaft bearing if you can believe it. metal shavings were shorting out the position switch. of course i tracked the cause because everytime i moved the shifter it would blow and the car would die. your situation seems more difficult to diagnose considering it frys when you turn your key. if it never fails to blow, go to the junk yard and snag a ton of fuses to test with. i'd try pulling fuses from different major systems 1 at a time until you find which one is causing the fuse to blow.

as far as how dry it is there.. at least you have something in common with phoenix

please dont say phoenix now..it just makes my times worse..lol
I just ordered an o2 sensor..$80. I also looked for a resettable fuse mike.. The guy at autozone doesnt even know what it is, and I couldnt find it on any shelves.. That would really help, I blew like 10 fuses yesterday.

When I got mine it was right with the other fuses. Its a big metal box...much bigger than a regular fuse. I will see if I can find mine and take a pic of it.

I just installed a brand new o2 sensor, but the fuse still blows. It blows right when I turn the key to the "ON" position. What could it be??? This is killing me.
Is there anywhere in the FSM that tells what could be doing this??

The fsm is quite useless for troubleshooting unless you have a consult from nissan[impossible to get]...

I would start looking at all the electrical wiring under the hood and under the dash/around the ecu for broken/frayed/worn wires...

Electrical problems are so hard to diagnose on a forum,so please excuse us if we don't have the exact solution...
Here is thread that might help..
