Windshield wipers and other prob

First, I have a 90 Max that recently lost the windshield wipers. When I turn them on, I can hear what sounds like them moving, but he wipers themselves aren't. I take it that if it was the motor, it wouldn't be doing anything, and so if it isn't that, what else can be fixed and how do you get to it?

Also, had the starter replaced a while ago, and everything was fine. All of a sudden, when I turn the key, I get sort of a "vibrating growl" before the car starts. It fires right away, and that's the last I hear of the sound. Ideas?

There's a plastic cup that a steel ball-end snaps into on the center of the wiper linkage. Sounds like your ball has come out of this cup. You'll need to remove your wiper arms, then remove the plastic panel that runs the width of the car at the base of the windshield, under the wiper arms. Once you remove that panel, you'll be able to snap the ball back into the cup (assuming the plastic cup isn't broken).

Try tightening your starter bolts.

I had the same prob and the plastic cups were to worn out to put back on, My Nissan dealer had new ones in stock it would be a good idea to replace the passanger wiper pivot wile your at it.

Thanks for your help, guys! I'll check it out!

Dumb question, but can anybody post a pic that points to where the starter is located?

Thanks!

get under the bumper, and on the drivers side is the motor sticking out with 2 bolts (well 1 bolt 1 nut) holding it onto the tranny.

Well, the ball/cup thing was the problem for the windshield wipers. It was a ***** to get that thing back on!

Problem is, it popped off again. Anything I should check/secure to try to keep it from coming off again?

It shouldn't have been that difficult to pop back on? In either case...., if it's not staying on, then it likely has a small crack of chip and you'll need to replace the cup.
