ve timing check

one of the methods the fsm says (the one without the sst whatever that is...) is to use a "suitable high tension wire" to bridge the #1 coil to the plug. you would then hook the timing light to that wire. what do you guys do/use?

what do you do, cut off the two ends and tape one to the coil. how do you make the connection to the plug? i guess a wire from a vg would be perfect huh... ok i was a little slow there

I am able to get a signal from using a normal inductive type timing gun. The gun is just BARELY big enough to fit over the #1 coil wire close to the connector. If you have a FSTB, you usually have to undo the bar (one allen/nut) and swing it up. Then you may have to undo one of the support brackets to gain access to the wires. Sometimes you have to jiggle and fiddle with it but I get it work everytime. If you have ABS, I feel for you trying to read the crank. When you get a chance, I would put some Liquid paper on the crank notches so it's easier to see

I used a spark plug wire that I had sitting around from my VG days. Worked perfectly.
