Short in tail light

The outside passanger tail light, which I guess is the brake light (the light that comes on when you hit the brakes) keeps blowing out so I know it's a short. Also sometimes the stereo will change volume when the brake is applied which I take as just part of the problem.

Anyone have any experiance with shorts? Is it as simple as finding whatever wire is exposed and grounding out/creating resistance?

I'm guessing I should just open the brake light and look around. Again, any advice before I take it to the shop/give up would be much appreciated.

Thanks again guys!

6-6-6 <-- there is your answer.

But seriously, are the bulbs in there the correct ones? That will cause them to blow quickly. As for the radio, is it stock or aftermarket? Thats an interesting problem my alpine does something like that but I believe that the **** is screwed up.

I had a problem with my brake lights. I didn't know I had my left side out until a police officer pulled me over and gave me an repair order. I found out the wire leading to the brake light contacts inside the socket was actually burnt on both sockets . The wire leading to the taillight contact inside the socket was good. The brake light contact of the 1157 bulb actually melted to the socket and caused a short. Hope this helps.
