busted timing chain
hey my bros timing chain broke on his 92 se dohc at 224K, and blew a dime sized hole in the valve cover... do you think it is possible to fix, and what are the possible componets it wrecked? reason he wants to fix it is it 'was' a great car and he has a bit of aftermarket parts in it, he just changed the clutch and put a light-weight flywheel in it... really sucks..
if he doesnt want to fix it because of to much work know anyone who wants a parts car?
thanks for all-

well, his valves have now been introduced to his pistons, so he's gonna need his heads redone. Did he have any vtc ticking? The caps have been know to break and do what you described. If you look around you will find some threads of people who have had similar problems that might give you an idea of prices. But a JDM engine may be his best bet as far as time and money are concerned.

Really...I don’t see how it can be anything but a coincidence though. Not sure how a light flywheel will make the chain break. My guess is the VTC exploded since that seems to be pretty common...but it’s hard to say.

who was the first one?
I have a spare timing chain cover and stuff if he wants to go that route fwiw. Good luck! (btw, there are chances his heads could be safe, still in for a good amount of work, easier to remove the engine btw)

anyone want to buy some aftermarket parts?????? lol. its not worth rebuilding that engine at 225000. i dont think my brother wants to go the jdm route either--he has a cbr 600 for the summer and is going to buy a truck for the winter.
