Window regulator/power window motor?

finally got around to working on my window that wont roll up all of the way (rear drivers side). Took it apart, cut the motor from the regulator, and jammed the regulator/window into place for the time being...

the problem was that one of the metal cables that guides the window up/down had a wire snap and it eventually turned into a knot and bottle necked the pathway for the rest of the cable and was thus limiting the ability of the window to roll upward... with that said, all i need are the cables, so how do i buy these? do i buy a new window regulator or do i have to buy a new window motor?

you have to buy a whole new regulator

Ok i also have this prob except, my drivers side window will only work when the car is idle... weird cause all other ones work with just the ignition set to on, anyways just now i got home and it didnt want to roll up so is it the motor or regulator? or both can i just open up boor panel and put it up for now... sux cause theres supposed to be mad thunderstorms.. dont feel like ductaping a garbage bag on my newly painted max.. booo

you can open the door panel and use something to jam the window in the up position.
it sounds like a week motor to me rather than a regulator

So can I cut the cable running through the regulator to make my window movable again? And I also found my motor mounts broken, when I opened the door, I found that the bolt holes in the door have been knowcked out, the bolts in the motor mounting still have a small fragment of the door sheetmetal.

ugh!

you can cut the cable, but personally I'd just unbolt the window from the regulator
