Should I keep it?

My daughter's 92 SE now has 159,000 miles on it. She is going to France in October to teach school there. I was thinking I would fix up her car while she was gone and also drive the **** out of it. It needs new struts, springs, steering rack, the throttle body sticks??, the tranny slams into first but shifts OK after that (auto). The VTC's don't clack anymore but I noticed now the thing smokes (yikes!)
Should I just sell it before she goes and give her the money?

Also it leaks from the front crank seal and the rear main seal, also leaks coolant from a freeze plug.
Runs good though.

I'd say sell it, but you have to know you won't get much for it with all the problems you listed. It really depends how much money you're willing to put into it to make it run decently. If that's not worth it to you or your daughter, sell it.

Worth it to buy 93 Maxima with 148K miles?

Hi, I'm looking to buy a used car, and I've seen many Maximas last well over 200K miles. So, I'm looking at a 1993 Maxima with 148K miles on it, automatic. This car has been in no major accidents, and been taken care of well, with regular check-ups and scheduled oil changes. Will it last me a good 4 or 6 years, and be reliable? Would you recommend buying this car for 3K?

Hit up your local forums and see if a knowledgeable member can help you out. It's hard to say anything without looking at it

It sounds like a keeper for someone who is maintenance prone. Daily cars are of no invesment value at all from a pure financial standpoint. So the question is... Does my $$$ that I put into this car make me happy or regretful?

I spent 3K on my MAXIMA when I bought it from a Family member in top shape (I had been the maintenance man and service person on it since new).
So I knew what I was getting. I then spent another $4K modding it to the MAX w/o tearing into the engine.

Some would say that was a foolish thing to do... But guess what; It made me happy and gave me something to work on with my hands for several years, so I was really happy about that. the $7K spent was well worth it.

Your choice.

Hey People:

I just bought an '89 gxe w/ less than 93000 miles. Unfortunately the guy I bought it from was a smoker (and heavily at that). How do I get rid of the smell?

Replace the entire interior or buy some air freshners
