Symptoms of bad springs?

Something is not happy in my rear suspension. Now I know how to "test" struts, the 1.5 rebound test, however my rear supension won't even compress. If I jack it up, and then lower it down, the suspension works properly, however if I drive even a few feet, both sides seem to collapse? Seomtimes one and not the other. There is also a clunk/boing noise present.

So what are the symptoms of bad springs and does this sound like them?

Probably not the springs inasmuch as it's the strut inserts. We got an uncommon system where we use strut inserts in the back, and those inserts can leak in its casing and you wouldn't know it.

A warning if you decide to take the rear suspension apart: Take it to a shop where they have access to an acetylene torch. The bolts may be seized. I did my suspension in May, and while mine were good for the most part, 2 out of the 6 bolts needed fire to loosen. Clunking can just be worn out bushings on the radius rod ends, or stabilizer bar bushings.

Yea, or unlike Will, you may get lucky. Did the struts/shocks in January, and they were all the ones that CAME WITH THE CAR. Everything came out just fine tho, thank god for airguns
