Blown Injectors (on both Maximas at the same time)
Blown Injectors (on both Maximas at the same time)
Well, I guess being a 14 year old car with over 208,000 miles on it, it was about time for an injector to go on my ’92 SE. The #5 cylinder injector read an open instead of 11.5 ohms like the remaining five injectors. Since I also have a ’94 GXE with the VG30E engine with over 210,000 miles, I figured that I have good transportation until I get the VE30DE back up and running again.
Mistake # 1: Going to a local auto parts store to get a new (not rebuilt) injector. Even though all of the stores list having the proper injector for the VE30DE engine, they do not. Autozone, Advance Auto, Pep-Boys, Napa, etc all have the same “wrong” injector.

Okay, since I need to order gaskets and such, I ordered three new injectors from the dealership. As with anything, I have to wait for the parts to be shipped since no dealership in the area stocks the injectors. Wait time: three to four business days.
As luck would have it, the ’94 GXE starts to sputter and illuminates the Check Engine Light. However, this fault is an intermittent fault. Daym! What are the odds of having both cars down at the same time? Even though the ’94 started up bad twice, it started good on subsequent startups. Since I already have the ’92 ripped apart, I am going to wait until I get it back together before I do real troubleshooting on the ’94. Sure enough, later in the day, the ’94 fired up bad again.
***** it!
The whole purpose of having two cars is so that I could have one while the other was out of commission.
I am now the proud owner of a 2006, Nissan Altima SE-R with the 6-speed manual transmission.

I thought about waiting for the 2007 models, but I figured I would get this now since it seems that Nissan may not do a SE-R trim level for the 2007 release. Nonetheless, I am still going to fix both of my Maxima’s and keep them. For 208,000 miles, the VE looks pretty good on the inside.

What were some signs of your injector going? I think mine might be, but I haven't had a check engine light pop up. I am having some bad startups and some good ones though on and off.
yea my #5 injector? went dead on saturday(center rear) it measured in at 432 ohms. i had a few bad starts but i kept thinking it was just a corroded harness. it finally stopped working when i was in new bedford an hour away. and in the same night i got pulled over twice. the best part of the night, no tickets. finally i had no reason for them to give me any.
i dont think my engine light has ever turned on other than when i turn the key to ignition
