LSD Problem?

While I have 2 fire tire in my VG, its only for about 60-70ft, then one tire fire! Is this a limitation of VE LSD or is there a problem with mine?

Remember it's a viscous LSD, not a locker. the wheels can/do still spin at different rates. the VLSD basically only provides about 60-80lb of locking torque at the wheels.

sigh, my friend just got a wreckless op for spinning his trucks tire 10ft in an Advance auto where we work. Cop pulled him over as we turned onto the side street. Moral of the story, apparently cops can enforce "traffic laws" on private property, even when the manager doesnt give a crap.

I don't believe that would hold up in court. The judge should drop that ticket right away being on private property.

Take that ticket to court. private property is none of the cops' business unless the manager wanted to press charges ont he 'property damage' from the marks left on the ground. And that that point, it would be a civil case for destruction of property, not a criminal/traffic case for reckless driving.

but of course, he'd better be damn sure he wasn't doing anything illegal once he got anywhere near the roadway.

Yep, I've been pulled over for speeding and sliding in parking lots, and they couldn't do anything other than run my record and pretend like they were letting me off with a warning. Fight it...

Matt, does that hold true for the 01 VLSD too? Any hints to how you arrived at that figure?

Bejay, I remember reading that somewhere about the Z32, Infiniti J30, 240SX, and etc.. I don't rememebr the numbers exactly, but they were somewhere in that ballpark for the Z32. I'm sure the Maxima is less than that, but it was a nice ballpark number to post.

I just poked through the FSM and didn't see anything listed for breakaway torque in the 3rd gen manual, but I'm sure it's around somewhere. (maybe Quaife has those numbers in their files?)

So no, no concrete numbers for the '01 VLSD.
What I can tell you is that the 3,4,5 gen manual trannies all use the same differential.. (same part #s from nissan for the entire diff assembly). so if you can find specs on one, they will be the same for all.

Interesting, does this mean a Quaife might fit in our transmission? They only have 95+ listed, but Im sure its possible they havent bothered to test it in VE?
