Cleaned out engine bay

Today I high pressure washed my engine bay. all the grime off the oil tank. all teh dirt build up off every hose. I pulled apart my intake and cleaned that in and out. all spark plugs wires battery taken otu and cleaned terminals and rings. When it was all put back together I just sat and stared at my engine. I fell in love with my car again. Just one of those blissful car moments. Then I started my car let the intake filter dry out. and heard her pur like a kitten. She even had a little more grunt now that the intake was cleaned all out. Will take pictures tomorrow. Just thought I'd share.

You fell in love with a VG? Isn't that equivalent to being gay?

heh, just kidding I cleaned my engine bay too. That was at least 2 years ago and it still looks a lot cleaner than never washed late 90's/early 2000 cars.

I'm suprised more people don't clean their engine bays when selling cars, it makes it look so much more valuable.

wait...so your filter was wet and you ran the motor to dry it out....u realize that you're supposed to avoid getting water in the engine right?

A small amount of mist/moisture from sucking air through the filter is nothing. it's like driving on a high humidity or rainy day. it will do nothing to the engine. think about all the air in the water while you're driving through the fog or a heavy rain.

In fact, many shops will do just that in order to clean the intake manifold and blow the carbon out of the exhaust. spray a light mist of water into the intake while it's running around 3000rpm and it basically steam cleans the inside of the engine. deposits break up and are burned in the cylinders..

driving your car through a 3ft deep puddle and sucking gallons of water into the engine is what's bad for the engine.

My engine bay looks just like yours, right down to the Die Hard Gold Battery!

I still have the red plastic cap that goes over the positive battery terminal, though.
