Injector additives

I really want to put some lucas injector cleaner and upper cylinder lube into my tank, but I know our injectors suck ars and like to commit suicide easily. I thought the lucas stuff was cheap and was mainly oil and not detergants or harsh additives but Im still skeard.

Anybody use addtives with sucess?

The only one I would recommend is Techron...ran that right after I bought the car (and then again every so often) as for others....I've tried others haven't noticed any differences (tried Gumout / Prestone / some generic brand)

The only engine cleaner that I've had good results with is the Chevron Engine Deposit cleaner. I had a MR2 that always carboned up the valves and pinged. A bottle of this cleaner would stop the pinging for another 6 months.

"...but I know our injectors suck..."

Well, I don't think they really suck.... But I got 180,000 miles out of mine using regular doses of Techron (about every fifth or sixth tank). Now in my 1991 z32 tt I just had one roll over and die on me with 38k miles on it, and that does SUCK...but the Z does have "issues".

I really just ment they are easily killed with additives. I know my 240 can stand up to alot more chemical abuse then the maxima injectors thats all I ment.

Ive had 3 maximas, one with 166K I knew all the owners (2 other then myself) had org injectors, the 186K looked like it did, and idk about the POS 217K parts car but it ran like garbage.

Im running all the 166K injectors in my 186K engine tho, it was running rough and swapping the whole rail helped alot and now it just sat for 5 months and is running a little sluggish with 18* base timing.

Lucus Oil Injector Cleaner

I just ran a bottle of Lucas Oil injector cleaner into my '92 SE which was hesitating intermittently when accelrating from a dead stop.
I've run about 1 tank of gas through so far and the results have been better so far.

Question, do you guys use mosly 87, or do I need to run a higher octane?

The VE is recommended to run a minimum of 91.
it will run on 87, but if you have a functioning knock sensor it will retard the timing to compensate for the lower octane gas when it detects detonation

I've used the Lucas injector cleaner before and didnt really notice much difference and also I've heard from people at work that its nothing but the brand..other than that its no good. Now if you talk about the oil stabilizer thats another story. Anyone agree with that?
