help, 92gxe to 89se
help, 92gxe to 89se
I am currently swaping motors from a 92 gxe to a 89 se and i need a little info. The axles from the 89 look bad and the 92's axles are new, would they interchange? the 92 is auto and the 89 is 5spd, would that effect the swap? Also I wante to know what the easiest way to take the pass side axle from the motor is. I had alot of problems with it when it took it out of the 89 and don't want to go through that again with the 92.
so the axles will interchange without any problem abs or no abs.
also, when i bought the 89, the radiator mounting bolts were broke off, one is flush and the other is sticking up a little, what would be the easiest way for me to get those bolts out?

If they are not rusted too bad, center punch the middle of the bolt, then use a bolt extractor[commonly referred to as "easy outs"] to remove the rest of the bolt...

Get some PB blaster and soak the bolt that sticks up a little, then use some vice grips, and clamp them down as tight as possible. for the other, see if some is sticking out the bottom but its probably easier to center punch and extract.
But the best thing to do is always have PB blaster on hand and use it on any bolt your about to take out, its my #1 rule. I broke it the other day and the same thing happened to my rad mount screws too.
EDIT- also if you need anything LMK, I live in columbus so if you need help with big stuff I can help. Theres also 6 maximas in the local pick n pull, 4 3rd gens and 2 4th gens, so theres plenty of parts near me if you need anything.
