more exhaust bolt repair ???

hello again all...thanks to those who helped me get my account fixed.

to recap, my max currently has a strange engine performance concern. the motor has a consistent unstable running issue. there no irratic idling - just feels like a cylinder has dropped or it's starved or there's a compression/backpressure issue. i know i'm all over the place here with possible causes but this is uncharted territory for me.

i know for a fact that i have an exhaust manifold leak and i'm fairly certain that this is one of the contributing factors. my question (finally) is what are the thoughts of removing the heads if/when the bolts break while replacing the gasket vs trying to e-z out a broken bolt with the cylinder on the motor??

i guess i'm more concerned about the rear head rather than the forward head.

thanks again
