Okay, what is the point of buying brand name when it comes to some things: more precisely springs and rims. Especially with rims, is there any reason to buy a high-priced brand, or is it just for impressing people with the name? I've seen some Primax rims that I think look nice as hell, brand new for $790 (17") with tires. I'm guessing Primax isn't a name which would impress people given the relatively modest price, but I don't think that matters, right? As for dropping your car, why would you want to pay like $400-600 for it as opposed to a set of $150-200 springs? I dunno, maybe I'm missing something?

With anything it's mainly you get what you pay for. With rims, "usually" the more expensive rims are light weight and high quality. Chrome and painted rims will also add to the cost. (I have a feeling the rim conversation is going to turn into a big one so i'll leave it at this for now )

As far as dropping, springs will run you in the 150-200 ballpark. The reason you see the 400-600 and even more is probably including struts. It's better to replace everything at once while you are in there...plus replacing just springs will eventually wear out the stock struts so in the end you will pay the hefty price...
