flywheel compatibility question

Will a 4th gen flywheel work on a VE?
It fastens with 8 bolts like a VE but will the ring gear line up to the starter?
Anyone know?

I'd be more worried about balance.

Please explain?
I didn't mention it but I'm referring to the Fidanza lightened flywheel.
The flywheels are the same diameter and the VQ flywheel is weighed at 1lb more than the VE according to Fidanza. The ring gear teeth are the same according to the measurements I took. All I need to know is if the ring gear will line up evenly with a 3rd gen starter.

if your engine is not balanced you will break things.
different engines are balanced differently

Brian, put down the crack pipe.

you're changing the flywheel, which is balanced assembly, and putting it on an engine, which is another balanced assembly.

it's just like bolting on a lighter crank pulley or a lightened stock crank.

Why don't you buy the Fidanza for the VE?

I thought that the VG/VE/VQ's where internally balanced, and that beyond that don't need nearly as much balancing as your average 3800 GM pushrod?

Is there some kind of advantage to running a 4th Gen. fidanza? If not, why not just run the VE fidanza?
