Fuel Injector Connection
RE: 1990 Max 240K miles.
Cheezzz, everyone is having problems with fuel injectors! My situation is a little unique. Been noticing no. 3 cyl dropping since early Spring. It was most prevalent after a rain and after 15-20 minutes it came back on. It became more frequent and now finally it's complete gone. This sure seems like an electrical connection has been compromised. I checked the connection going into the injector and the rubber boot to wire bond is now open. I can see the insulated wires. Problem is I can't figure out how to get the harness off the injector. Can anyone offer the right procedures for this. I'm a little hesitant to do any hard yanking or pulling. everything is a little brittle there. Been reading some searches about corroded terminals. Has anyone experience this? Thanks for the help!

The metal clip looks like a U and catches the base of the connector. It is pressed in from the outside of the engine facing towards the center of the engine V. Don't even worry about the rubber boot.
When you get it off, you will probably find lots of greenish powdery corrosion in the connector and on the injector terminals. You can try to clean them off using needle point files. Afterward, you will probably need to recrimp the connectors by inserting a jeweler's screwdriver between the metal connectors and the plastic shell.
