i'd go for a cold air intake. makes more power but it is more expensive than the other kind. and are you talking about just a straight k&n drop in filter or the pop charger style?

the pop charger style probably gives around 3-4 hp, so the drop in would probably yield less power then that. i would just invest in a pop charger or a cai. i'm not sure if any of the guys on here have just the drop in, i think they all have cai or pop charger.

I HAVE A DROP IN K&N FILTERCHARGER IN THE FACTORY AIR BOX THE ONLY DIFFERENRCR I HAVE SEEN IS A SLIGHTLY LOUDER ENGINE GROWL UPON ACCELERATION IF THERE WAS ANY HP INCREASE IT WOULD ONLY HAVE BEEN 1 OR 2 HP

I had a drop in, nothing noticable, but better gas mileage.

I had the drop in kind before I got my Pop charger; I didn't notice any performance differences, but it's not too expensive and you can reuse it so it's cheaper than having to replace normal filters in the long run
I used the same filter on my old 89GXE and on my 93 SE
on my 93, I had no problems, but on the 89, sometimes idle would get pretty rough after I put the filter in; I've heard this is fairly common with the VG when you put that filter in

Drop in filter

I have a K&N Drop in filter and I only notice the difference in the acceleration when its cold. But the money that you save on recharging the filter instead of replacing a regular one is worth the $50.00 I payed.

Pop Charger K&N

How much does a K&N pop charger cost? Is it easy to put in?

Thanks,
Roman

I have a drop in filter too. It seems to be louder,,

except i can't tell any more cuz i took off the little muffler thingy in front of the air box, and it's a lot louder now and i felt more throttle response, people now think i have a aftermarket pop charger air filter.
