Rear well rust.

Well just last night a noticed dampness on my back left seat so i pulled it and found a medium sized rust hole leading directly into the well. Its not so big that it'll mess with the strut mounting. how would igo about fixing this? ive already took a wire brush to it but i want soemething permanent, i have some silicon tape covering it with sum duct tape reinforcement. Should i take it to midas weld?

YOU NEED to check your rear seatbelt brackets to make sure they are not bolted into pure rust, it’s a known issue with 3rd gens.

If however your rust is like mine, you can clean it up with a dermal buy some sheet medal prime the medal prime the cleaned/stripped rusted area, place the sheet over the hole and pop rivet it into place.
I also used some heavy duty poly sealant to fill in around the cracks.

Prime everything again, and spray a coat of underbody spray in your wheel well

OH and if you think you only have one rust whole in your well, think again, take a hammer and poke around to find them all. Takes about 2 hours to do several holes.

i took out my seat belts about a month ago to install an amp and it seemed fine. But yeah the surrounding metal on the rust seems like crap. And when i bought the car there was already underbody coating in the wells and on the under carriage. maybe just a missed spot? im gonna go at it with a hammer like you said.

Well, you are 150% correct. If you plan on having people in your backseat (that you like) then go out of your way to get this done...

Myself? I have way too much **** in my backseat to fit people into so it doesnt matter.
