Why did you use the GT35R???? That's alittle hard for an non-built motor, I think you should went with an GT30R for less lag.

You know VG's have lower compression ratios than VE's/VQ's right?

i've been with jimmy since he started this project...and after hundreds of hours of blood sweat and tears he got his max goin...it sounds like a bat out of hell......and lemme reassure you that the vid doesnt make it sound slow because it sure as hell isnt.....estimated hp is around 480 to the wheel......its most likely one of the sickest things i've ever seen

Congrats man! What is the a/r on that gt35r? Some friends and I have been working on a wrx sti lately. We are installing the same turbo on the sti and I expect 550whp from it. Also, I've been SERIOUSLY considering turboing my VE. I would like to use a gt30r or gt35r, but I might just go with a t04. I just moved from sea level to 5500ft of elevation. My max is SLOW now and I need to do something about it.

Makes me wanna turbo my VG...mine sounds exactly the same except my exhaust is new starting from the catalytic and moving on back..I need a manifold and/or studs! Congrats on getting it running, cant wait to see dyno results once its ready and broken in. Also how much did the entire project run you so far? I'd love my old raggedy (but dearly loved) car to be a sleeper

on the entire car ... around $30,000, the turbo'in it, around 15,000. i spent about 10,000 on the engine, and 5,000 on the accessories.

$15k!? That sounds a bit pricey.. You had a shop do the work? From my experience, most people max out at like $3500-5k on turbo projects. DYI or not

It really isn't. It sounds like that from the get go, and looking back you'll probably cuss, but all the small things (being parts, or going for the very best upgrade instead of settling) that will make or break a car really add up.

$3500-$5000 is on the lower side for what it takes to add FI to a car. The turbo itself, intercooler, wastegate, BOV, the piping and flanges, silicon connectors and hose clamps, coolant and oil lines, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, injectors, all the misc adapters/fittings, extra coolers. Then you need to control it, SAFC, E-manage, JWT ECU, or just going with a brand new stand alone. Don't forget gauges. That's assuming you already have a welder $600-800+ for a good 110v MIG or you take it to a shop $whoknows

Sure you hear of $1500 turbo setups, but it's playing with fire. It's not a setup you'd drive across the country unless you had money to burn, love headaches and have an empty trailer infront of you.

With me Doing all of my own Fabrication and Taking 2 years to find deals on all my parts when piecing the turbo setup together I still sit at about 4500-5000.. for just the turbo setup. you look at what else is done to the driveline and its well into the 6-7000 range... Kinda unbeliveable.. worth it.. o yea.. its been a GREAT Time, and ive meet some cool people along the way.
