painting bumper - Autozone ???

My 93 Maxima has paint scraped up on front bumper. Car has dark blue paint. The over all look is gone by peeled off paint on bumper.

I am planning to paint it my self. Now can I get matching paint from auto parts place like Autozone? I don't want to spend too much. I know there is a color code.

Any input is welcome.

aztec red and pebble beige are the only 3rd gen colors i've ever seen at auto parts stores. and those were touch up bottles. you might be able to track something similar, but if you want the exact paint code in a rattle can, you might want to check out these guys: http://www.expresspaint.com kind of spendy though considering it's a spray can. you could always slap a bra on the front too..

i was at the store tonight and walked by the spray paint aisle. i've spent a lot of time there trying to find a cheap paint to match my pearl so i instantly thought about this thread and decided to look around for something that will match the midnight blue. a can of rustoleum caught my eye. link below. i'm assuming the color i saw is the colbalt blue metallic considering it's the only blue. by just looking at the cap it looked like a very close match to that color max and i almost wish i was in your position just to see how it would turn out. the price was $4.99. they also had a couple other colors that seemed like a close match to the pebble beige, sliver and charcoal colors. i'd say it's worth a shot.

I know around here there's a place that you go to and they take a little gauge kind of thing and put it up to the car and they can make you the exact same paint up, pretty expensive though. Probably the best way to go if you want it took look really good.

any major paint supplier will have a paint matching gun. It takes a photo basically.

I know you can get PPG Omni for cheap (probably only $15 for a pint) but you can only buy a gallong of reducer for it (another $20 ish). Then you have to buy clear and hardener (another $50 is for a quart of cheap stuff). Thats just supplies though then you have to have someone that has a paint gun to spray it (labor isnt cheap) or you can buy a cheap gun and try it yourself (cheap HF gun for $30-$50) but I would practice a lot on something first before you spray your car.

I asked my local PPG supplier and he told me that they could use the matching gun with the Omni line which was a surprise to me.

Still before you did all that you can probably go to a small shop or a guy that does it on the side and spend $150-$200 and save yourself some hassle.

Of course that if you want it done right so it will last more than a year or so. You can probably get a decent match from paintscratch or the other place Hectic mentioned but it will not hold up to UV or weather as well and will not last as long.

Adding to this thread....If you want save mucho $$ on labor, try checking with your local vocational school, they will usually paint it for free with you providing the paint supplies...

My local vo-tech school does great work, but the flip side of them are they take a while to get it done...Probably not a good idea if the car is your daily driver...
